About

I am Hazel and this blog is about me and my baby Rei. Her name is Japanese for gratitude and that is exactly how I feel for having this precious being in my life.

I am a working single mom so what you will read on this blog is me trying to do so many things at the same time: raise a beautiful baby girl, cross things out from my to-do and bucket lists, and stay as fabulous as time and budget will permit.

I am a Filipino and, though single parenthood is not uncommon in my country, our society is conservative enough to attach a stigma to an unwed mother. But that is the least of my challenges.

When I found out I was pregnant, it became apparent that I was going to be on my own. I didn’t stop to think after that realization. I hit the ground running. I breezed through my pregnancy with the help of some friends and my OB, but most of the time, I was alone. Then I gave birth and that’s when the real fun started. But I am not alone anymore. I am currently living with my baby and her nanny.

Since becoming a mother, I became a woman with a mission and that is to raise my baby to become the best person she can be. She is my first child, my first attempt at motherhood. I do not claim to be an expert at anything. I am still finding my way. But I believe I have the right attitude to succeed and my heart is in the right place… I am in the right place.

This is the reason why I started this blog. I want to be able to share the ups and downs, the joys and pains of being a working single mom. I want to let all the single moms out there know that you have choices. Make the best one for you and your baby. Take charge of your lives. Don’t look back with regrets and don’t look ahead with fear. If you love your baby, you are exactly where you should be.

Thanks for visiting.
